The Partners
Howard E. Troller, FASLA, Senior Partner in Advice at Troller Mayer Associates has established himself as one of the leading landscape architects of the past 50 years. His design is synonymous with many of this region's major landmarks, such as the Los Angeles Civic Center, the Los Angeles County Music Center, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Occidental College and the Martin Luther King Memorial Plaza and Civic Center, Compton. Mr. Troller holds a Bachelor and Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of California, at Berkeley, and is a Fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects. Mr. Troller is an expert in Southern California native, drought tolerant, tropical and exotic plants. His work is characterized by an approach which blends the history and character of a region with the qualities of delight and humanity. This thoughtful approach is rooted in the conviction that our physical environment truly enhances our quality of life.
Richard W. Mayer, ASLA, has professional experience in the United States and abroad as a planner, designer, author and teacher. In charge of project management and community outreach at Troller Mayer Associates, he holds a Bachelor in Environmental Design from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard University. He currently teaches at UCLA Extension and is author of numerous papers and articles pioneering ideas in energy conservation, community open space, the use of drought tolerant plants, sustainable landscape design, landscape restoration and end use planning of landfills. Mr. Mayer is Trustee of the Southern California Chapter ASLA and past President of the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association. Together, Mr. Troller and Mr. Mayer form a unique team of professionals from different generations. The result is a fuller understanding of design from a historic to a modern perspective.
Richard E. Scott, ASLA, provides design and graphic communication on both preliminary design and construction documents. Mr. Scott is a licensed landscape architect and graduate in Landscape Architecture and Marketing from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He combines technical knowledge with marketing skills to produce unique, bold and clear drawings that are consistently effective and impressive to clients, community members and public officials. He is an accomplished designer and specializes in ensuring that projects are completed on schedule regardless of fast tract time constraints.
The Associates
Bonnie Reese, ASLA provides professional expertise in horticulture and plant materials. Ms. Reese holds a Professional Certificate in Landscape Architecture from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension, a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, and a California teaching credential in speech and language remediation. The breadth of Ms. Reese's background contributes to her work on projects at |Troller Mayer| Associates including experience with public meetings and advisory boards. Her organizational and writing skills bring all the parts and issues of a project into a clear, usable solution.
Lyndon Robinson has over 25 years experience as a landscape architect, with an expertise in landscape construction. He has won many awards, including the AIA Award of Merit for Stevens Square in Tustin. His parks, recreation and restoration experience include Echo Park Athletic Fields and Mac Arthur Park in Los Angeles, and several recreation projects for the Santa Monica Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority. Other notable projects include the Los Angeles City Hall East Mall, and several projects at UCLA. He adds a practical perspective to the design mix. He focuses on the building process, construction detailing, cost, and maintenance. His talents result in a landscape that functions properly long after it's built.
Richard H. Hardin focuses on irrigation design. He has over 30 years experience in landscape contracting, supervision and irrigation engineering in the United States and overseas. Mr. Hardin is both an innovator and a contributor in the advancement of modern irrigation. He has developed many new techniques in irrigation design and construction which have resulted in significant savings for clients. Mr. Hardin works well with public officials, architects and contractors to ensure the highest quality watering systems.
